02 Take responsibility. We expect you to be responsible for your own actions. If you’ve done something you feel is wrong do not try to play it off as someone else’s fault or put the blame on another. The admins are not here to baby you, and we will call people out on this kind of behavior.
03 Avoid forming cliques. This is not to say don’t make friends; we want you to make friends but would also like you to welcome people in the cbox and plot with people you’ve never plotted with before. We want this to be a community you can come to and de-stress when nothing else is working. A community is only as great as you’re contributing to it.
04Take everything with a grain of salt. There is no easy way to say this, but remember that the board does not revolve around you. Try to talk out a problem before assuming there is an issue in the first place.
05 If all else fails, talk to an admin. We want everyone to have fun and will not tolerate any rude, disrespectful, or alienating behavior.
06 If you have something to say to staff but for whatever reason don’t feel comfortable contacting us directly, please log into the Anonymous account and PM one of us.
02There is to be none of the following subjects on Hexed:
Please note that this is not to deny writers of their plots. Usually, so long as you are being tasteful and not excessive in your writing, we will allow the exploration of these topics. This is simply a precautionary measure so we can address any issues before rpers are deeply invested (effectively killing their muse completely) and so we know to keep an eye out in case things get out of hand.
05Identity Exploration / Stereotypes: Sexuality exploration, religious exploration, community exploration is allowed as it happens in real life. Please report things that are blatantly offensive (e.g. Muslims are terrorists, Catholics are being depicted as peodphiles, etc.) but plots involving identify searching (i.e., will my family approve if I no longer follow this religion? How will my sexuality affect current friendships?) are okay. If you think your plot will offend someone or if someone's plot offends you, please seek an admin so that we may investigate the situation. We will do our best to consider everyone's feelings and find a compromise. [/LIST]
01 Register with your OOC Account name first in PROPER CASE. This is your Member Alias and not your character's name.
02 Once you have registered your OOC account, you may head on over to our STORE to purchase your First character badge.
If this is your first time buying a badge or using Jcink's store, please see this STEP-BY STEP GUIDE. It's important to know how the shop works because it is vital to many of the features offered here on Hexed. After purchase, DO NOT USE YOUR FIRST CHARACTER BADGE ON YOUR OOC ACCOUNT.
If you've been to the shop and still need help, please ask for Administrator assistance; we'll be more than happy to walk you through the steps.
03 If you have successfully bought the badge, create a new account with your Character's name. Be sure to register in proper case. This means Firstname Lastname.
04 From your inventory, send your newly bought character badge to your character account. (Again, please see this topic for more detailed instruction)
05 Use the first character badge on the account of your first character, not on your OOC account!
06 And voila! You have successfully bought and applied a character badge to your first character account. Please make sure that before you put up a sorting application you have linked your character account as a sub-account to your OOC account.
07 In regards to all characters you make, please make sure that you purchase the character creation badge before registering your character. Do not create a new account until you can buy the creation badge you need with already established character accounts.
In short, do not touch the points on a new character until after you have been sorted. You may use your points however you like after the character has been sorted / accepted.
02 If you are caught with multiple character accounts without the proper badges you may be subjected to a point fine per unauthorized account. If you have the proper badges and simply don't know how to apply them, please seek out a member of staff.
03 Character accounts that are not linked to an OOC account within two weeks of sorted will be deleted.
02 Character deletion doesn't cost you anything, however be careful about deleting a character you might want to use later. The deletion of a character does not refund you points. You lose all claims on that character and will need to start at the beginning (ie: purchasing badges as if you were making a new character) if you decide to bring them back.
If you want to know more about what you can buy in the shop or if you're unfamiliar with how to use the store in general, please check out the shop guide on purchasing your first badge ever -- the first character badge!
If you'd like more information on what you can do with points and how to earn them, head over to the points guide.
01Please write all regular in-character rp posts be in third person and past tense.
02 DO NOT GODMOD CHARACTERS. If you need to control a character not your own be sure to have the rper's permission first.
03Posts must always be at a minimum of 5 sentences long, though most of us will write much more than that. Please note that to earn points for a post it must be at least 150 words long. If you are unsure how much to write beyond this, a general rule of thumb is to match your rp partner.
04For now, please refrain from using posting templates. We're still debating whether we will allow them entirely, restrict it to templates made for the board, or something else. Until then though, just write posts in nice normal formatting!
05 If your thread is explicit or has any mature / triggering topics, please notify an admin so that they may tag it appropriately. Mature threads will have an [R] in front of their titles.
06 Do not pester people for replies. If it has been more than a week, you may politely ask them about it or give a gentle reminder, but do not be rude.
07We do not have a shoutbox, but we do have an alert system implemented so that you may tag members whenever you get a new reply up. To tag a member, simply add the following to your post without underscores:
@[_USERNAME_] to tag an OOC account
@[_FIRSTNAME LASTNAME_] to a character account.
01 Nudity, vulgarity, and gore are not allowed in images anywhere.
02 Play-bys and face claims must be real celebrities or models that are at least 13 years old.
02 Avatars are 250 x 450 pixels in size. Please use the right dimensions, otherwise your avatar will look squished or stretched!
03 Currently, there are two fields for character gifs / images in the mini profile. The first image should be square in proportion (ex: 100x100, 200x200) and the second gif must be 160 x 95 pixels in size.
04Signatures must be no wider than 500 pixels. Small gifs are allowed, but please refrain from using something that will cause the page to load for a long time.
01 All general behavior rules apply to the cbox! Respect people in the cbox, be kind and say hi if someone pops in, and be inclusive and make it easy for others to jump in.
02 Do not advertise or spam the cbox. There is a forum for advertising.
03 Please do not speak in another language for long conversations. While we love all cultures and language here, it's difficult for staff to moderate a conversation they can not understand.
04 Be normal! It's not obvious to some people, but the cbox is not a place to be lewd, offensive, or talk about heavy / political topics. Likewise, please also refrain from discussing parts of character plots that might be triggering, even in the slightest. The plot is probably great but talk about it privately!
Whether intentional or not, sometimes rules will be broken, and the staff must take disciplinary measures to ensure it doesn't happen again. For Hexed, the system is as follows:
01Official Warning - Depending on the rule broken and the severity of the issue, staff may issue an official warning via PM. In this PM you will be told which rule was broken and asked to re-familiarize yourself with the rules. The PM will state at the end that you have received an official warning from staff, and the next offense will result in a fine.
02First Offense - Your first official offense will result in a point fine. This fine could be anywhere from 100 - 300 points depending on the issue and is enitrely up to the discretion of the staff. You will receive a PM indicating that this is your first offense, and how much you will be fined for. If the fine is higher than the amount of points you have, you will simply be reduced to 0 points in total. At the end of the PM, you will be informed that this is your first offense, and that the next offense will result in a fine and a suspension.
03Second Offense - Your second offense will result in both a point fine and a suspension of all your accounts. The fine will range from 300 - 500 points, and your suspension will be 1-2 months, again, depending on the severity of your offense. You will receive a PM indicating that this is your second offense and informing you of how much you will be fined for. At the end of the PM, you will be reminded that this is your second offense, and that another offense within the next six moths will result in being permanently banned.
04Third Offense - Please do not reach this point. Your final offense will result in a permanent ban of your accounts and characters. You will be given 24 hours to collect what you need off of Hexed before you will not be able to access the board afterward.
Please note that all rules should be followed. As such, we will not elaborate on which rules are "major" and which ones are "minor". Thankfully, we are a forgiving community and believe in second chances and redemption. If 6 months have passed since your last behavioral issue, you will be moved to the previous level of the disciplinary ladder (e.g., if you committed two offenses, but do not break rules for six months, you will be reduced back to the first offense). Of course, if we think that you are taking advantage of this system, we will take appropriate action.
Finally, PLAGIARISM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED WHATSOEVER. The theft of other people's works will not be tolerated, and result in an instant ban. Don't be that guy.
If you're of the mind that you prefer to break it down by month you're more than welcome to do 3 different lessons (one per month) for each term. This is not a requirement but an option for those that prefer to do one lesson per month.
Life happens. That is an undeniable truth! However, in the name of fairness, if you fail to post a class in the first term of your professor being accepted; we will require that by Term 2 - Month 2 you have posted a class. We want to be fair and considerate of real life issues, so absence notices will be honored, but you will still be required to post a class by Term 2 - Month 2.
Staff will do its best to send out reminders. Failure to meet requirements will result in your character being removed from its position as a professor in order to give other members a chance at the spot.
You will have the option to transfer your character to one of the other groups (Roskeld or Hogsmeade resident) instead of losing all of their badges and special abilities you may have collected.
